Mochi Squared is an artisanal baked goods company, proudly based in Austin, TX. The company was founded in November 2022, and has been selling mochi based desserts at the local farmer’s market and pop-up events. Our company makes different flavors of butter mochi, with a mix of Asian and American flavors. Butter Mochi’s main ingredients are sweet rice flour, eggs, butter, coconut milk, and sugar. Most of our products are naturally gluten free and has a texture similar to a custard pastry; soft, chewy, and slightly sticky on the inside with a crispy outer layer. Butter Mochi is originally from Hawaii and is eaten as a local snack.

Hi, my name is Katie and I am the founder of Mochi Squared. I am Taiwanese- American and mochi is special to me because as a child I would make mochi with my mother and grandmother. I have a background in Veterinary medicine and baking has always been a passion of mine because it would remind me of my childhood and the joy I had when I could share my creations with classmates. During veterinary school, we would have Bake-Off Friday and I would regularly participate by bringing in some new home made dessert. My passions have always been animals and baking, and even though I have dedicated 20 years of my life as a veterinarian, I have finally decided to take the plunge into the world of professional baking! I have been fortunate to travel to 38 different countries, and I have tasted a variety of different pastries in each of them. I hope to bring my professional drive, unique flavors learnt during my travels, and lifelong passion to Mochi Squared!

  • A: We recommend eating the butter mochi within 2 days of purchase. You may store butter mochi in a cool place for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to one week in an air-tight container or plastic-wrapped to maintain its moisture.

    You can also reheat the mochi for maximum chewiness: microwave 10-20 seconds and let it cool back down to room temp before eating).

    You can also reheat the butter mochi in air fryer at 375 for 5 min or longer, if you like it crispy, almost like a fried donut!
